DESCRIPTION:SRV Lessons from Lives Examined: Session Three: Sir Douglas Bader\nLearning important lessons from a person’s life is a form of respect and valorization – the travails and challenges are made useful and edifying. Indeed\, in our work\, we encounter many people who despite (or because of) social devaluation and negative life experiences have important stories to tell. Such life stories should be honored and scrutinized. This study group series will review the relevant facts and events in the lives of persons with disabilities or other disadvantages and in an open forum\, draw out SRV-related implications that would have practical application to human service. We are pleased to welcome the mentorship of international SRV practitioner and leader\, Raymond Lemay\, throughout this year’s Study Group Series. We continue our study by exploring the life of Sir Douglas Bader\, Royal Air Force flying ace during the Second World War who lost both of his legs in combat.
