DESCRIPTION:Support Susquehanna Service Dogs in Give Local York\, a 24-hour giving day. Our goal is to raise $5\,000 to raise\, train\, and place life-changing assistance dogs. Each dog is specially trained to support their partners to live more independently and pursue their goals and dreams. \nDonate for Give Local York\n\nJoin Us In-Person on May 5! \nRockfish Public House\nSecond floor\n110 N. George Street\nYork\, PA 17401\n4:30 pm to 7:00 pm \nRockfish Public House will be donating a portion of bar sales from upstairs to Susquehanna Service Dogs! You’ll also have the opportunity to meet some of our Ambassador Dogs. \nWhy Give? \nSSD Rudder is one of the dogs trained by Susquehanna Service Dogs working in York County. As a facility dog at Red Land High School\, SSD Rudder is trained in specific tasks to help students address their emotions and handle stress. She’s changing the dynamic of the school. \n“She’ll sit next to a student who’s feeling stressed and help them move on with their day\,” said Alison Gonce\, an English teacher at Red Land and one of Rudder’s handlers. “I got a text message one time to bring her to a classroom where a senior was having a tough time handling the stress of preparing to graduate. In the past\, this student would put her head down on her desk and have an emotional outburst when she lifted her head. When I brought Rudder into the classroom\, the girl’s head was on her desk. Rudder went right over to her and put her head in her lap. After a moment or so\, the girl began petting her. Eventually\, she sat up and quietly moved on with her day as if nothing had happened.” \nJoin us for Give Local York and help create more life-changing partnerships! \nGive Local York starts at 9 pm on May 4\, giving you a bonus three hours to donate.
